Are you, Prophet, and Maestro still linked by your souls? I know you can visit each other’s mindscapes and whatnot…what are the advantages and disadvantages of having souls be linked? Is it permanent? It couldn’t cause any babies to happen, could it? That would be kinda cute, but I assume you aren’t ready nor do you have the energy for babies and marriage! Boyfriends are good enough, especially when they’re soul buddies!

* i’ll address the latter first –

* it prrrrobably won’t, no. none of us really hold any interest for that as far as i know? it’s a huge responsibility – and monsters from our timelines all sound like they reproduced differently so that might not work even if we Did make an effort at it.

* iunno. it’s not something i personally would want – i’m happy just dating them both and being close like this, i don’t think i really want to go further atm.

* that out of the way. being linked the way that we are is kinda…. weird? we all have small parts of one another’s souls latched onto our own – it was done so we could safely unfuse, given how wonky mine and maestro’s souls are.

* i’m pretty sure it is permanent? i don’t really…. want to test that theory out, considering that we could. probably die if it went to the wayside.

* as far as advantages and disadvantages go…. let’s see.

* we kinda have this. headspace???? thing? we had it while we were fused, but it held since we kept our souls fused in the way that we did, so we have a space to be with each other even if we aren’t physically and that’s a blessing. it’s…. really comforting, especially if one of us is fighting like. nasty negative thoughts.

* the only real big cons that i can think of are uh…. i’m. not sure if any of us will be able to leave the void until we ALL can, individually? proph might be an exception to that but we haven’t tested things since.

* and the fact that if one of us gets a song stuck in our head then it’s stuck in all of our heads

* other than that it’s been nothing but good. 😛

hey guys remember when undertale was new and everyone was just enjoying a good game and we didnt have to feel an inherent shame for liking it but then the fanbase became riddled with incest and pedophilia glorification and harassed others over what route to take so much that people actually dread playing a fucking game about love and family and forgiveness like what HAPPENED

@torracat EXACTLY like. there’s something just so sad about the idea that undertale probably wont be able to live down its fanbase. it wont be known to most as “a game that makes people want to be kinder” or “a game that teaches you that sometimes even if you want to be nice you must still defend yourself” or “a game about staying hopeful despite the odds” or even “a game that has its faults and limitations but ultimately has a good heart and a decent moral and is damn enjoyable to play” but no

instead undertale’s known as that game with the skeleton that people obnoxiously overglorify, that game with the incest and pedophilia problem, that game that gets people harassed for literally just playing it as it is meant to be played. instead of best game of 2015 people will probably remember it instead for the game that was sent to the fucking pope. i mean jesus.

like idc if people dislike undertale what upsets me is when people ruin things that are good for others. i guess it cant be helped but its still : /

This bugs me out so much because I really thought that this would be the game to teach a large part of the population, and maybe even younger generations, how to be kinder to one another. It’s bloody disappointing (to say the least) that the fanbase made it so cringe-inducing to people who haven’t played it. My favourite game up to the point Undertale came out was Monkey Island. It was my favourite game since I was ten years old, but as soon as I played through Undertale it became my absolute favourite game of all time, and I still believe it’s one of the best ever made. It’s even helped make my brother, who was known for being rude and mean-spirited, think more about his actions towards others and how they should be treated. He’s become a kinder person thanks to that game. One of the things that stands out to me the most is how psychologically the game is set-up to help teach compassion and instill a sense of morality into the player in a way video games have never before. Even in games where you can make choices towards the “good” or “evil” path, they aren’t chosen as directly as they are in Undertale, nor do they have the same consequences for those choices as they do in Toby Fox’s masterpiece.
Then, of course, you have the people who completely missed the point of the game and do all of the things that OP mentioned…

My question is: why do you care about the fandom? Why not just enjoy the game for the game? Just pretend the fandom doesn’t exist, and just play and have fun with it!

ignoring the problems allow them to get bigger. ignoring the problems allows more people to get hurt. ignoring the problems allows toxic cultures like fandoms to continue to harbor pedophiles and abusers and otherwise dangerous people. ignoring the problem makes it worse. i made this post because me and over 2,000 other people feel like we CANT “just play and have fun with it” because well over 2,000 other people have used and abused the game that we love and it’s characters for their sick fetishes and attack and harass anyone who’s uncomfortable with this. that’s why i care about the fandom.

I’m glad you’ve realized your mistakes, Runiel. Why were you so overbearing and controlling in the first place, and how did you realize you were wrong?

* { i think a lot of it that i was scared. and…. actively trying to push people away, i guess? }

* { i didn’t like being awake. i didn’t like being aware of things again, but i figured that if i had to stay awake, i could at least try to actively go after the big threats in the void. }

* { and maybe that if i was too aggressive about it, maybe i’d be forced back into being dormant. or. something. i don’t know. i wasn’t happy back then and it’s still hard for me to not want to go back to not being actively around. }

[ * He doesn’t have much mobility outside of his own hands holding this reforming body up, and most of his concentration’s going towards the ones lodged in Flaps’ jaw bones. It’s pretty safe to say that he’s swept up in the lunge. ]

[ * But, ah, now you have those butterflies to contend with, and they’re starting to swarm him. The bone making up his face is where they decide to light, followed by a faint scratching sound. What is it they’re trying to do..? ]

{ * …That’s just playing dirty. You know exactly what they’re doing. }

[ * What? Trying to scrape away and eat the bone? Maybe. ]

📝 [NAUGHTY????]

📝 [Flaps doesn’t seem to be too focused on this swarm – he instead is Wholly Intent on crushing Pathos’ skull and any of that reforming body that he can. He’ll deal with the pest problem after – he’s gotten aware enough to be able to piece together that Hey, This Guy Started This, therefore, he dies first.]

📝 [MAYBE that’s a little too much. BUT! He sure is ripping at Pathos at this point. No mercy.]

📝 [Definitely safe to say that Pathos won’t be permitted to return when he inevitably comes back from this.]

Poking the Tiger

scattered-scientist:

[ * The butterfly will make it out somehow. It’s smarter than it looks. ]

[ * Flaps is free to grab that club, because the hands have let it go to favor lodging themselves in his jaw’s socket, trying to pop it out of place. ]

[ * Pathos, meanwhile, is hovering a few feet away, waiting for his body to grow back. Those butterflies work quick, as they’ve got his rib cage mostly assembled, the new bone dripping a sickly green ichor. ]

[ * It might also be nothing, but a few of the butterflies have started hovering around Flaps’ head. ]

📝 [Hope so…..]

📝 [He does grab it, but once those hands go for his jaw he really. Starts freaking out a bit. He doesn’t seem quite as enraged now – more afraid. This hurts!!! This Sucks???? Horrible. Awful. 0/10.]

📝 [He flails around a bit in an attempt to get the hands away – and he spots the partially-reformed Pathos. He LUNGES, full speed, aiming directly for the skull this time.]

Poking the Tiger

scattered-scientist:

[ * That is a real shame. The disturbed green mass releases more and more butterflies that collect around his skull, them beginning to reform his skeleton from the neck down. A larger butterfly that doesn’t quite look like the rest takes flight, going right out the door and into open void. ]

[ * As for the remains of Pathos, that bone club is headed directly for that injured jaw, moreso to get attention than to hurt this time.  What is he trying to get out of this, exactly? ]

📝 [Gross….. Hope that butterfly is good at navigating, though. There isn’t any doors down here – not any that lead out. The only door that could is up the stairs – providing he didn’t close it when he came in, at least.]

📝 [But! The movement catches his eye and he swings around, claws and wings outstretched. He tries to grab that club firmly in his mouth, clawing away at the hands holding it. It’s tender!!! Blease no touching.]

Poking the Tiger

scattered-scientist:

[ * Now, here’s the real funny thing. What Flaps is digging at looks like bone, works like bone, but isn’t actually bone. All that strain detaches Pathos’ skull from the rest of his body, summoned hands picking it up so he can watch his body turn to green mush and tattered clothes. ]

[ * A few familiar-looking butterflies crawl out of the green goop, fluttering about before lighting on Pathos’ skull, their eyes trained on the violence Flaps is committing. ]

[ * There’s more summoned hands where that came from, them picking up the bone club. You’re in for a ride now, sonny- ]

📝 [Ohhh. Ohhhh no. Bad????? Really bad,]

📝 [Flaps’ focus is ENTIRELY at ripping this mess to absolute shreds, currently. His wings are outstretched and flapping angrily, his tail thwacking at the floor – he’s even digging deep scratches into the floor itself by now in his attempts to demolish this thing.]

📝 [He MIGHT smack that floating skull with how wild his wings are going, but…. He might not, too. He’s not paying much attention to where the head went.]

Poking the Tiger

scattered-scientist:

[ * That crack sends shivers all up and down his spine, a faint memory threatening to bubble to the surface. It’s distracting enough to let Flaps’ claws sink right into him, successfully pinning him. ]

[ * He writhes and thrashes in the other’s hold, bringing his bone club down on that claw harshly. Although he’s in a bad spot, he seems to be…smiling, in a sickening manner. ]

[ * The biggest question right now is why he doesn’t just teleport out of Flaps’ grasp..? ]

📝 [Ya uh, you’re freakin me out a bit there bud,]

📝 [Unfortunately, or. Well. Maybe fortunately for Pathos? He isn’t going to stop there. His other paw comes up and starts Digging at his upper body. He manages to get purchase right under his topmost ribs, and, well….]

📝 [Unless Pathos teleports away, he RIPS at that spot, probably at the very least cracking his bones all the way up to his face – at the worst he’d be disconnected from the rest of his body. Luckily for Flaps, his front and back claws are pretty well protected – it still stings, for sure, but it doesn’t crack like his face did. He’s slowly crushing Pathos’ lower body as he digs and rips at the top.]
