Maybe people have forgotten over time but Wacom deliberately makes their tablets with a rough texture that has been getting increasingly more and more severe over the last decade or so to increase wear on both the nib and the surface itself and if you buy a $10 surface protector you will never have to replace the nib again, and, more importantly, your tablet will last for years as opposed to the surface getting scratched to hell after a few months.

Wacom makes good tablets but they’re a shit company as I’ve said many times throughout the 10-odd years I’ve been using their tablets.  After putting the protector on over a year ago I have not once needed to replace a nib.  And anyone who knows me knows that I use a lot of pressure on the pen.

Get a surface protector.  Don’t put fucking pasta in your pen.

hey guys remember when undertale was new and everyone was just enjoying a good game and we didnt have to feel an inherent shame for liking it but then the fanbase became riddled with incest and pedophilia glorification and harassed others over what route to take so much that people actually dread playing a fucking game about love and family and forgiveness like what HAPPENED

@torracat EXACTLY like. there’s something just so sad about the idea that undertale probably wont be able to live down its fanbase. it wont be known to most as “a game that makes people want to be kinder” or “a game that teaches you that sometimes even if you want to be nice you must still defend yourself” or “a game about staying hopeful despite the odds” or even “a game that has its faults and limitations but ultimately has a good heart and a decent moral and is damn enjoyable to play” but no

instead undertale’s known as that game with the skeleton that people obnoxiously overglorify, that game with the incest and pedophilia problem, that game that gets people harassed for literally just playing it as it is meant to be played. instead of best game of 2015 people will probably remember it instead for the game that was sent to the fucking pope. i mean jesus.

like idc if people dislike undertale what upsets me is when people ruin things that are good for others. i guess it cant be helped but its still : /

This bugs me out so much because I really thought that this would be the game to teach a large part of the population, and maybe even younger generations, how to be kinder to one another. It’s bloody disappointing (to say the least) that the fanbase made it so cringe-inducing to people who haven’t played it. My favourite game up to the point Undertale came out was Monkey Island. It was my favourite game since I was ten years old, but as soon as I played through Undertale it became my absolute favourite game of all time, and I still believe it’s one of the best ever made. It’s even helped make my brother, who was known for being rude and mean-spirited, think more about his actions towards others and how they should be treated. He’s become a kinder person thanks to that game. One of the things that stands out to me the most is how psychologically the game is set-up to help teach compassion and instill a sense of morality into the player in a way video games have never before. Even in games where you can make choices towards the “good” or “evil” path, they aren’t chosen as directly as they are in Undertale, nor do they have the same consequences for those choices as they do in Toby Fox’s masterpiece.
Then, of course, you have the people who completely missed the point of the game and do all of the things that OP mentioned…

My question is: why do you care about the fandom? Why not just enjoy the game for the game? Just pretend the fandom doesn’t exist, and just play and have fun with it!

ignoring the problems allow them to get bigger. ignoring the problems allows more people to get hurt. ignoring the problems allows toxic cultures like fandoms to continue to harbor pedophiles and abusers and otherwise dangerous people. ignoring the problem makes it worse. i made this post because me and over 2,000 other people feel like we CANT “just play and have fun with it” because well over 2,000 other people have used and abused the game that we love and it’s characters for their sick fetishes and attack and harass anyone who’s uncomfortable with this. that’s why i care about the fandom.

cinnabees:

Guys, I keep seeing that post going around about putting uncooked spaghetti noodles in your tablet pen to work as replacement nibs, and I know OP means well and stuff, but PLEASE DON’T DO THAT.

Pasta, no matter how smooth it is, is still a product of dry flour, and rubbing it down on a surface creates micro-sized grit that will scratch up your screen faster than any tablet nib, and they wear down even faster, so it won’t even be worth it. Also, it’s so brittle, if it breaks inside the pen, it will be difficult to clean it out.

Tablet nibs are a pain to replace and buy, but buying a 10 pack of them for $7-8 on Amazon is going to be a better choice than having to pay a heftier sum to repair a scratched up tablet surface/screen.

Spread this post if you can, because I’d really hate to see someone accidentally damage their tablets this way.
